The travel companies with single parent discounts

Family holiday offers, like free child places, are often only available when two adults travel with one or more children. Thankfully, some holiday companies have decided to help single parents with discount codes and special savings.

But are these deals any good? Family Holiday Deals investigates.

easyJet holidays: single parent discount code

The orange airline’s tour-operating arm offers a discount of up to £100 to single parents. The promo code ONEADULT will knock £50 off the price for the travelling adult and £25 per child, up to two children.

What you should know: Be aware that the ONEADULT code is not always the best, so check what other codes easyJet holidays has. Currently, code SAVEMORE knocks £100 off holidays over £800. If you’re one adult travelling with one child and spending over £400 per person on a holiday, the single-parent code won’t save you as much.

The Family Holiday Deals verdict: Works best when no other discount code is available. Check if no better code is available before using it.

Jet2holidays: single parent discount code

The UK’s largest tour operator is offering £60 off per booking for single parents with the code J2HSPF60. Although the code isn’t worth quite as much as easyJet holidays’, you can add a £10 per person discount by creating a free myJet2 account.

What you should know: Jet2holidays also runs regular special offers with extra discounts for myJet2 members, and you can stack these discounts with the single parent code. For example, you can currently save £100 per person when logged in to your myJet2 account, and add the single-parent discount on top.

The Family Holiday Deals verdict: Looks meagre at first, but the ability to combine it with myJet2 discounts makes this a winner.

MSC Cruises: single parent cruise fare saving

The Italian cruise line offers a 15% discount on the cruise fare for the first child when sharing with an adult. The parents and any additional children will pay the full fare. A school summer holiday sailing with MSC can easily cost over £1000 per person, so this is a decent saving.

What you should know: When we reviewed this deal, the MSC website kept throwing error messages when we tried to redeem the discount online. The only way to redeem this offer seems to be by phone at 0203 426 3010.

The Family holiday deals verdict: A good discount, especially if you’re travelling in peak season. But, technical issues limiting its use to phone booking make it slightly less convenient to use.

What about the other travel companies

It’s not because the likes of Loveholidays, OnTheBeach and TUI don’t offer a special single-parent discount that you shouldn’t book with them. A discount code doesn’t necessarily make for the best deal.

When looking for a holiday, compare prices across multiple companies to find the best value. You may find that some websites, even with a discount code, are not always the most affordable.
